We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic General Manager to lead our organization and contribute to our continued success.
Position Overview:
The General Manager plays a crucial role in the day-to-day operations and long-term success of Strauss Theatre Center. This leadership position is responsible for overseeing the administrative, financial, and operational aspects of this non-profit organization, ensuring its continued growth, and maintaining the theater’s reputation for excellence in the community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Management:
- Develop and manage the annual budget in collaboration with the Board of Directors and Executive Committee.
- Monitor and report on financial performance, ensuring the theater’s financial stability and sustainability.
- Pursue funding opportunities, including grants, sponsorships, and fundraising campaigns.
- Operations Management:
- Oversee the theater’s day-to-day operations, including scheduling, staffing, and facility maintenance.
- Collaborate with the Production Liasson to ensure smooth production processes, from casting to final performances.
- Implement and maintain operational policies and procedures.
- Staff and Volunteer Coordination:
- Recruit, train, and manage administrative and production staff.
- Manage box office staff to support ticket sales and all events hosted by Strauss Theatre Center.
- Foster a positive, collaborative work environment that encourages creativity and professionalism.
- Coordinate with volunteers and support their contributions to the theater.
- Community Engagement:
- Build and maintain positive relationships with patrons, sponsors, local businesses, and community partners.
- Develop and implement marketing and outreach strategies to promote the theater’s productions and educational programs.
- Represent the theater at community events and meetings.
- Travel is expected within the state (expenses paid).
- Board Collaboration:
- Work closely with the Board of Directors to provide regular updates on the theater’s financial and operational performance.
- Assist in strategic planning and the development of policies and initiatives to advance the theater’s mission.
- Other duties as assigned in line with the board’s direction.
- Additional duties as assigned by the Executive Committee/Board of Directors.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in arts administration, non-profit management, or a similar role.
- Strong financial management skills, including budget development and monitoring.
- Exceptional organizational and leadership abilities.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of theater production and the performing arts industry.
- Familiarity with fundraising, grant writing, and sponsorship acquisition.
- Passion for the arts and a commitment to the theater’s mission.
