You Can’t Take It With You

By Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman

You Can’t Take It With You is a comedic play by Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman that centers around the eccentric Sycamore family, who live by their whims and passions regardless of societal expectations. The play’s action kicks into gear when Alice Sycamore, the family’s only relatively normal member, becomes engaged to her boss’s son, Tony Kirby, leading to a clash of lifestyles when the conservative Kirby family meets the unconventional Sycamores. As both families grapple with their differences, they learn important lessons about the value of happiness and the folly of chasing wealth at the expense of joy.
