From Hollywood to Monroe – Set builder for Mamma Mia! has a famous history.

Set design and construction is never easy, and often goes unacknowledged. Sets are an integral part of any stage show and are just as important in telling the story as the dialog, acting and singing, and music. For Mamma Mia!, we are fortunate enough to have someone with Hollywood roots to help tell the story.

John Marsala was born in Monroe, but spent his career working on movies. He even built the famous clock-tower featured in the Back To The Future franchise! Retired now, and living back in Monroe, John is donating a large portion of his time and skills constructing our set for Mamma Mia! We are very lucky to have him! And kudos to all the set builders who have helped bring so many shows to life over the years on the Strauss stage!
